Frank Schueler

Frank was born in Darmstadt, Germany. Before coming to the United States in 1955, he was a journeyman electromechanic and studied electromechanical engineering. In 1969 he took a course in Creative Wood design, and later, what had started as a hobby became a profession. He has exhibited in many solo and group shows throughout California, the United States and Germany.
Frank works with metal, wood, and plastic. The majority of his materials come from discarded and/or found objects.

My work is based on my love for clean and touchable forms, reflecting my technical background. I enjoy the process and the product, the artistic and technical challenges and the reactions my sculptures receive. It's a great joy for me to observe people looking at my work, not only with their eyes but also with their hands. I strive to give value to my materials, which are often discards of nature and man.

Frank is inspired by the out-of-doors. His studio and gallery lie amongst apple orchards and vineyards along California's scenic North Coast. His gallery is open by appointment. Just call and he will gladly show you around!
