Santa Rosa, CA (February 13, 2008) - The “Luck o’ the Irish” shines on Santa Rosa in March as one of the most sought after Celtic/World music groups on the concert series scene joins the Santa Rosa Symphony for a St. Patrick’s Day Celtic Celebration. The March 16th performance features Mithril, a band whose recent concert with the Mobile (AL) Symphony set an all-time attendance record and garnered two standing ovations. The Santa Rosa performance will feature the Santa Rosa Symphony presenting Mithril’s exciting full orchestra arrangements. Maestro Asher Raboy of the Napa Valley Symphony will serve as guest conductor. Also featuring the Healy Irish Dancers, the performance promises to provide a little piece of Celtic heaven that’s sure to bring audiences of all ages to their feet and asking for more.
Mithril’s four musicians - Andra Bohnet, Tom Morley, Ben Harper, and David Hughes - perform their all-instrumental shows on a wide array of traditional instruments, including Irish flute, whistle, fife, Celtic harp, fiddle, bouzouki, mandolin, guitar, bodhran (Irish frame drum), and harmonium. They play with the precision of their classical training and the enthusiasm that springs from their love of the music. The band’s unique progressive style has its roots in traditional Celtic music but moves beyond that, weaving such diverse influences as American folk, classical, and Middle Eastern melodies into their full tapestry of sound.
Mithril has four CDs on the Flying Frog label, including the newly-released The Return Home. Their CDs have received airplay on the nationally syndicated Celtic Connections radio program and on internet radio sites including AOL World Radio and XM Satellite Radio, and are also experiencing heavy iTunes downloads from fans all around the globe.
