Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis
Brings
Ellington Love Songs to Santa Rosa
January 25 at 8:00 pm
Santa Rosa, Ca. (December 21, 2007) - Wells Fargo Center for the Arts presents the return of “the greatest large jazz ensemble working today” (The Chicago Tribune), as the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis performs Ellington Love Songs January 25th at 8:00 pm.
The program will feature the world renowned big band performing beloved love songs written and made famous by Duke Ellington. The band will also draw on other repertoire from the jazz canon including tunes by jazz luminaries and new and original music by members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.
The extraordinarily versatile Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra is composed of 15 of jazz music's leading soloists under the leadership of artistic director and trumpeter Wynton Marsalis.
Drawing from an extensive collection of work that includes original compositions by Marsalis, Ted Nash, Ron Westray and other members of the orchestra, as well as the masterworks of Ellington, Mingus, Coltrane, and other great jazz composers, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra's concerts are everything that jazz was, is, and is to be: improvisational, driven, and incredibly cool.
The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra includes: Sean Jones, Ryan Kisor, Marcus Printup (trumpet); Vincent R. Gardner, Chris Crenshaw (trombone); Sherman Irby, Ted Nash, Walter Blanding, Victor Goines, Joe Temperley (reeds); Dan Nimmer (piano); Carlos Henriquez (bass); and Ali Jackson (drums).
